Finland has started to store ammunition reserves in Norway in case of crisis and may provide its defense material warehouses to other countries, it has been announced the head of the Department of Military Economy of the Finnish Defense Forces, Miko Heiskanen, to the broadcaster Yle.
The first test batch of Finnish reserves was delivered to Norway in the fall of 2023, the authorities of the two countries concluded a corresponding intergovernmental agreement. Heiskanen noted that this is the same reserve as in Finland. “Weapons, ammunition, other materials, spare parts”, noted Heiskanen.
It is understood that the creation of the same type of storage is planned in Sweden and some other countries, but there are no decisions or agreements between the countries yet.
The military expert noted that the countries supporting Finland can keep military reserves on Finnish territory, but there is no further information on this matter so far.
