The new president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska, took office. She was born in Ohrid and says that in her childhood she played with Bulgarian children. However, the Silyanovski family originates from Krushevo.

A family from which came a number of Bulgarian generals who fought in the wars for national unification. The name Silyanovski is not uncommon in the lands near the Vardar. On one side of the border they define themselves as Macedonians, on the other side as Bulgarians. Family history is difficult to trace back in time, and no one knows who is related to whom or whether it is a coincidence of names. But one thing is certain – it is a land drenched in the blood of thousands who died for freedom.

Silyanovska is a professor of law, she started her career as a minister in the cabinet of socialist Branko Crvenkovski. In the presidential elections, she was nominated by VMRO-DPMNE. She built her entire campaign on the refusal to include Bulgarians in the country's Constitution.

Vasil Silyanovski is a lawyer, professor of law at Sofia University. One of the heirs of the many branches of the Silyanovsky family, as it is emphasized in Bulgaria. He managed to compile a genealogical tree of the family whose roots are in Krushevo, today's North Macedonia.

On his part, Georgi Silyanovski is a successful merchant and keeps sending money to his relatives in Bulgaria. One of them is his nephew Dimitar, who later became one of the most famous Bulgarian lawyers - dean of the Faculty of Law and rector of Sofia University.

Grigor Silyanovski is a first cousin of General Vasil Silyanovski, another of the series of senior military men who fought under the flags of the Bulgarian army in the name of national unification.
The famous Silyanovski family - they left Krushevo when the city was under Ottoman rule. Over the years, it produced a number of generals and officers from the Bulgarian army who wrote golden pages in the history of the wars for national unification. Today, his descendants, who live in Bulgaria, have no doubts about their nationality. And there, near the Vardar, at the bend near the Cherna River, near Doiran, in the memories, the cries of those who defended their revivalist ideal still echo. He did not then know the boundaries that separate us today. And which Europe can erase. Forever.
